AI training in Zambia comes in three forms: international certification courses listed at about $1,000 to $3,000, public workshops in Lusaka, and in-house training at your office on your team's own tasks. In-house is usually the one that changes daily work; at Zambrite it starts at K3,500 for a team of up to 15.
If you search for AI training in Zambia today, most of what comes back is international course catalogues with a Zambian web address. That tells you something about the market: there is plenty of AI training available to Zambian companies, and very little of it built for how Zambian companies work.
This guide is for the person who has to choose, and justify the spend. It covers the three kinds of training you will find, what they cost, and how to tell whether a session will change anything on Monday morning.
The three kinds of AI training on offer
International certification courses. Global training firms list ChatGPT and AI courses for Zambia, delivered online or at a venue. The Knowledge Academy, for example, lists a one-day ChatGPT course for Zambia at $2,995, and a ChatGPT prompt engineering certification from $1,095. You get a certificate and a broad syllabus: how the models work, prompt patterns, ethics.
Public workshops. Half-day or one-day sessions in Lusaka, open to anyone who books. They are cheaper per head and good for curiosity, but everyone in the room does different work, so the examples stay generic.
In-house, task-based training. A trainer comes to your office and works on the tasks your team actually does: the weekly report, the client update, the reconciliation sheet. This is the kind we run at Zambrite, so read what follows knowing that.

What a useful session looks like
The test of AI training is simple: a week later, are people using it on real work? Three things make that more likely.
- It starts from your tasks, not from the tool. A session that opens with "what is a large language model" loses the room. One that opens with "here is last month's branch report, let's rebuild it in ten minutes" doesn't.
- People do the work themselves, on their own phones. Watching a trainer is not learning. Most staff in Zambia will use AI on a smartphone, so the session should too.
- Someone follows up. Habits form over weeks. A short check-in each week, and one person in the team who others can ask, does more than a longer first day.
Questions to ask before you pay
- Will you work on our own documents, or on generic examples?
- What will my staff be able to do the day after that they can't do today?
- What do you teach about keeping customer data out of public AI tools?
- Does it work on a phone, for staff without laptops?
- What happens after the session: is there any follow-up?
- Is the price for the team or per person, and does it include a proforma and a ZRA e-invoice?
Where to start
Start with one team and one afternoon. Pick the team with the most repetitive paperwork, run a session on their real tasks, and judge it by what they are doing a week later. If it works, extend it. If it doesn't, you have spent a few thousand kwacha, not a training budget.
